About Course

Join Mila the Manatee for an action-packed word adventure! Your child learns that a verb is an action word that tells what someone or something does, tells verbs apart from naming words, finds the verb in a sentence, adds -ed to talk about yesterday, and uses hops for one and hop for more.

Everything can be read aloud: tap any word to hear it. Spanish help is built into the lesson (tap Español at the top of the lesson). Please take the quiz in English, because it checks English grammar. If you use the site’s language menu to switch this page to Spanish, the quiz answers get translated too and the questions stop making sense.

How it works: 1) play the interactive lesson (about 30 minutes; it ends with a Verb Charades at Home activity to do with a grown-up), 2) click Mark as Complete, 3) take the 10-question Verbs Quiz. Get 7 right to pass, and try again as many times as you like.

Tip for families: the quiz page has no built-in read-aloud. In Microsoft Edge, right-click the page and choose Read aloud (or open it in Immersive Reader) so your child can hear each question.
